How can I put this...it's great that the per shop fees are removed, however each shop now has its own cart, which means a minimum fee of $9 per cart.
For buyers who spend big money at Japan Rabbit this will be an increase over previous fees. Now, I understand that fees are essential, and perhaps the fees can be tiered based on per item value and total spend.
Let me explain.
If you are ordering only a few items per vendor cart that total less than 20,000 Yen, you pay the new, current fees. This is because the labor required to make the order etc.
If an order's total spend is above 20,000 Yen the minimum fee is the old $4 per shop fee. In addition, Items that are below 7,000 Yen pay the new $2 fee but items that are above 7,000 Yen each pay $1.
Just trying to brainstorm a way to keep customers while at the same time not make too much work for Japan Rabbit. This way, those who spend big will be rewarded especially if they are purchasing larger items. This works well for Figures, Anime and Electronics that are 7,000 + Yen.
Perhaps the community and Japan Rabbit can chime in.

We have completed a review of our fees and the new prices have launched (adjusted per item fees).
This doesn't affect the minimum fee specifically, so if there is further feedback on that please let us know!

My 2 cents (and similar to this idea) if the $2 per item (Assuming it goes back to that vs the current $1 promo) applied to the first say 3 items, then it went to $1 (or less for sites you can automate where more items do not increase order costs). Then you have the 'per order' style fee covered, but also we don't get hit so much on big orders of low value things.
Ideally fees would be in yen too rather than $ as its confusing buying direct from Japan with $ prices and fees (so navigating 3 currencies rather than 2) especially how strong the $ is it means the fixed fees have gone up a lot except for americans, while competitors remain the same in yen.

Chris: The current $1 is considered permanent for now and not a promo. We will continue to adjust things as we can based on feedback though.
Charging fees in yen rather than USD is a larger issue that may be harder to solve. But something we are also willing to look at again if there is demand.

Sabina Fischer: Thanks for the reply. For clarity, for me I guess whether its charged in USD or Yen isn't actually important (unless there is a conversion charge to $, as that is not my local currency, and as my bank doesnt charge me interntional fees I would also not choose to pay in my local currency directly as the rate is usually much lower e.g. paypal or amazon conversions) but just clear what the equivilent JPY is throughout the order process without needing to manually convert it to make sense to me. thanks.

HI David, That's a good point about the minimum service fee kicking in more often. I'll give that some thought.
But I think some assumptions are not quite right.
If you spend about 11,400 yen (about $81.09) the service fees will be equal to $9.00; not 20,000 yen.
A little less than that, and the $9.00 minimum fee kicks in. But I agree, 11,400 is still more than some people want to spend per shop.
But, thinking about it another way, at $9 the minimum fee is really only $5 compared to the old way—since now you are saving the $4.00 per shop fee.
